The "Mile High City" is full of excitement and fun, enough to give anyone a great vacation or a well deserved getaway. There is plenty to do in Denver, no matter the time of year. There is fine dining, high-class entertainment, and many museums. Additionally, Denver offers professional sports teams and a very good nightlife, as well as being a stop on several major concert tours a year. When you visit Denver, you will find that there is plenty to do.
Sports are a big thing in Denver. Though you can enjoy an easy day watching the amateur teams playing, the real excitement lies in watching the professionals play. A number of professional teams like The Colorado Avalanche of hockey, Denver Bronchos of football and The Nuggets, all find home in Denver. Denver also boasts of a professional lacrosse team.
Denver is undoubtedly a melting pot of rich arts and culture. There are a number of heritage centers and museums to visit in Denver. You could visit Black American West Museum and Heritage Center or the Buffalo Bill's Museum and grave to go through the Denver history lanes. When it comes to museums in Denver the history museum, children's museum and railroad museum are not to be forgotten. Cherokee Ranch and Castle is all together a different experience along with the Arvada Center for Arts and Humanities. The latter offers great entertainment options such as theatre, dance, art gallery and hands-on learning.
Denver is well-known for its petite but popular cultural events like symphony show, Colorado ballet company's performance, the children's chorale and the special shows at Arvada center. The Colorado ballet company features the holiday favorite 'The Nutcracker Suite', which is worth watching if you like theatre and ballet.
Denver's two great animal attractions, the Denver Zoo and the Downtown Aquarium attract kids of all ages. They offer world-class animal encounter experiences that include a variety of species from all over the globe, and some species from right around the region.
The beautiful and rugged settings of Denver, right in the heart of American west, offer some great options for exciting outdoor activities. There is no dearth of things that can be done in Denver. You just need to be adventurous enough to explore them. You could go for hot air balloon rides, horseback rides, jeep tours, rafting trips, rock climbing trips or simply a biking tour down the Denver region.
If you don't want adventure and just wish to laze out in a bright garden or park on a laid back picnic or lunch, you have some wonderful options. The Denver parks and gardens like Butterfly pavilion, inset center, cave of winds and Denver botanical gardens are a great option for a relaxed picnic.
Festivals. Check the time of year for festivals. Denver is a city that has quite a few festivals throughout the year, ensuring fun activities for singles, couples, and families. Some of these are the Cherry Creek Arts Festival, the Cinco de Mayo, Colorado Renaissance Festival, and the Colorado Music Festival.
